Net Zero North East England Announced As Headline Partner of Clean Energy UK

Friday 29 August

We’re delighted to share that Net Zero North East England will be our headline partner for The Clean Energy UK Conference 2025.

This collaboration feels like a natural fit. Net Zero North East England brings together local government, business, education, the public sector, and civil society with a shared mission: to drive a joined-up regional response to the climate emergency. At The Sustainability Community, we exist to connect people, organisations, and ideas that accelerate sustainable change—so our visions are closely aligned.

A movement, not just a conference

On Tuesday 4 November 2025, we’ll gather at the Crowne Plaza in Newcastle to host one of our most ambitious events yet. Over 400 delegates and 60 speakers will come together for a day of action, ideas, and collaboration.

The programme will explore three big themes:

  • Power UP – scaling clean energy production, storage, and infrastructure

  • Skill UP – building a workforce ready for the green future

  • Scale UP – driving investment, policy and place-based growth

Talks, panels, and hands-on co-creation zones will create opportunities not just to share ideas, but to shape them into something real.

Why this partnership matters

As our founder and CEO, Kate Hutchinson, puts it:

“We can’t thank Net Zero North East England enough for their support. Having them as headline partner reinforces our commitment to putting the climate emergency firmly on the agenda.

The Clean Energy UK Conference isn’t another opportunity to talk about what might be—it’s about putting ideas into practice and driving meaningful change. This is part of a much wider movement.”

That sentiment is echoed by Kim McGuinness, North East Mayor:

“We are moving fast to make North East England the home of the green energy revolution, creating new jobs, skills and opportunities for local people as we do so. By bringing together industry, innovators and communities, Net Zero North East England embodies our commitment to tackle the climate emergency while shaping a cleaner, fairer and more prosperous North East – ensuring our place at the forefront of the UK’s clean energy future. The Clean Energy UK Conference will help turn our region’s ambition into action.”
