Learn a little more about them…

Can you tell us a little about your business and what inspired you to start it?

Green Shield Group is a renewable energy company specialising in solar installations across the UK for commercial and public sector customers.  I started this as I believe that there is an opportunity in renewable energy to make a difference and have a positive impact on a local scale, our clients have reduced energy bills and carbon footprint without pushy sales tactics, just tailored, data driven system designs ensuring we deliver what we promise, simple, sound advice for everything solar.

What does sustainability mean to you personally and as a business?

Sustainability means making smart, responsible choices both at home and in business, for Green Shield Group it’s about designing systems that are efficient, long-lasting and genuinely suited to our clients’ needs.  It’s about having a clear vision and goal and that for us is to transform how you power your business, driving positive change for people and the planet.

What’s one sustainability goal you’re most excited about achieving this year?

Helping more businesses in South Yorkshire become energy independent, whether that’s with Solar or Voltage optimization, it’s exciting to see people take control of their energy and reduce reliance on the grid.

If your business had a “green superpower,” what would it be and how would you use it?

I would like to point out that I think we already have a few superpowers with how we go about business normally but to answer this one, it would be great to be able to remove the inconsistencies for new grid connections and provide a bit of predictability back for everyone.  I think we might need some superpowers to help us with that.

Outside of work, what’s one small, sustainable habit you practice in everyday life that others might find inspiring (or even surprising)?

Not sure if this is worth admitting but here goes, I don’t wash my clothes every time they have been worn, jeans, jumpers etc can all be worn 2-3 times without needing to be put in the washing machine, even at low heat I believe I am doing a small amount of good by keeping this potentially smelly habit going.
