North East Combined Authority

The North East Combined Authority (North East CA) is the home of real opportunity, working to create a better future for communities across the region. Formed in May 2024, it brings together seven local authority areas – County Durham, Gateshead, Newcastle, North Tyneside, Northumberland, South Tyneside and Sunderland – under the leadership of an Elected Mayor and Cabinet. 

The North East CA’s mission is to connect communities, give people the skills to succeed, and improve wellbeing for all. By collaborating with local partners and businesses, the authority is driving sustainable economic growth, supporting innovation, and positioning the North East as an outstanding place to live, work, visit and invest. 

Through its Local Growth Plan, the North East CA sets out a clear vision for fostering opportunity and attracting investment while also strengthening the region’s cultural and visitor economy. Together, these efforts ensure the North East is recognised nationally and globally as a thriving, inclusive region.
