Midlands Net Zero Hub – Net Zero Hubs
Key Regional Partner
Supporting organisations across the Midlands to reach net zero
The Midlands Net Zero Hub was established by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero to help local areas kickstart sustainability projects and access funding. Hosted by Nottingham City Council, which acts as the Accountable Body for all programmes, the Hub provides free strategic, financial, and technical support to local authorities, public sector organisations, and community groups to accelerate the delivery of net zero projects.
The Government has set a target for the UK to reach net zero by 2050. While local authorities account for around 6% of the UK’s greenhouse gas emissions, they have influence over more than 30%. Since 2018, the Midlands Net Zero Hub has supported partners across the region to accelerate sustainability initiatives. The Hub supports schemes from the earliest stages of feasibility and development through to investment readiness and delivery. It also facilitates investment into local decarbonisation initiatives, increasing the number, quality, and scale of net zero projects delivered across the Midlands.
The Hub’s expertise includes strategy development, local energy generation, transport, domestic and non-domestic retrofit, and more.
The aims of the Midlands Net Zero Hub are to:
Increase the number, quality, and scale of local net zero projects being delivered
Raise awareness of the opportunities and benefits of local projects and investment
Enable local areas to attract public or private finance for net zero projects
Support coordination and collaboration between partners
Share local learning both regionally and nationally
The Midlands Net Zero Hub supports organisations to take projects from initial concept through to investment and delivery.
