Richard Bond
Innovation & Services Director, Mining Remediation Authority

Richard Bond is the Innovation and Services Director at the Mining Remediation Authority, the public body responsible for managing the UK’s coal mining legacy and who’s mission is to create a better future for people and the environment in mining areas. Richard leads national efforts to harness mine water heat as a low-carbon energy source.
Under his direction, the Authority has advanced the initial schemes in Great Britain (particularly in the North East) and he and his team are collaborating with local authorities, developers, and energy providers to unlock the potential of disused coal mines for sustainable heating. Richard is a passionate advocate for using legacy infrastructure to deliver social value and economic renewal.
