Luke is responsible for delivering Chester Zoo’s Sustainability agenda. As a world leading conservation and education charity, which welcomes around 2 million people through the gates each year, Chester Zoo is at the forefront of global wildlife conservation action here in the UK and around the world. Luke is responsible for ensuring that while delivering their mission to prevent extinction, they are not contributing to the problem they are trying to solve, by negatively impacting the environment. Luke is leading on the Zoo’s decarbonisation efforts transitioning unique spaces away from fossil fuel heating sources, their zero waste journey by diverting operational waste away from landfill and incineration, removing forest risk commodities from their supply chains, and transitioning 30% of their estate to be managed for UK biodiversity.
