Aled Roberts

Dr Aled Roberts is a scientist, engineer, and entrepreneur working at the forefront of sustainable materials innovation. Aled is the founder of Dekiln, a cleantech startup based in Manchester developing BioSintering® – a novel, low-energy process that produces ceramic-like materials without kiln firing.

Dekiln’s flagship product, Eralith, is made from over 95% recycled material and has a carbon footprint up to 94% lower than traditional ceramic tiles. Aled’s research journey began with biopolymer adhesives and evolved through off-world construction materials like AstroCrete and STARcrete, gaining global media attention. Today, his work is helping reshape the ceramics industry toward a circular, low-carbon future.
