Ruth Wood

Ruth Wood is the Chief Executive Officer of Mersey Maritime, the UK’s leading regional maritime cluster. The organisation brings together industry, government, and academia to champion, support, and grow the maritime sector across the Liverpool City Region and the wider North West.

Under Ruth’s leadership, Mersey Maritime is strategically focused on driving opportunities, funding, and investment in key areas shaping the future of the industry. These include maritime decarbonisation, digitalisation, and addressing critical challenges around careers, skills, and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) to support sustainable sector growth.

Ruth also plays an active role in regional economic development and innovation. She is a member of both the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority’s Business & Enterprise Board and its Innovation Board, contributing to strategic decision making that supports regional business growth and future focused innovation.
