Hemp-Lime Morning Workshop
Working with Hemp Insulation
Tue 17 Jun | Free
10:30 - 12:30
York
Native Chartered Architects, The Granary, Lingcroft Farm, Fulford, York, YO194RE

At our hands-on workshop*, participants will explore the benefits of using hempcrete – hemp-lime – a sustainable, bio-composite locally grown material made from hemp shiv and lime – in both modern construction and retrofit projects.
Through demonstrations, guided activities and a Q & A, attendees will learn how hempcrete provides excellent insulation, moisture regulation, and fire resistance, while significantly reducing carbon emissions.
Our experts will share insights into its versatility for both new builds and retrofits, highlighting its potential in eco-friendly design.
The session will encourage collaboration and inspire participants to consider hempcrete as a low-impact alternative to traditional building materials.
You will also see a live case study of hempcrete in use…the Native studio!
Native will be joined by Bob Bloore, from Hempshed. (Hempshed.co.uk)
Bob’s focus is on ecological and collaborative design and build. He has extensive experience with hempcrete and other bio-based materials, as well as a degree in Architecture from Ecole nationale superieure d’architecture de Versailles.
He has spent over 5 years working on Hempcrete new builds and renovations around the country and provides architectural designs, consultation and construction details for extensions, new builds and community led projects.
*Please note, this is a hands-on workshop. Suitable clothing / PPE should be worn.
