York Sustainability Symposium

We will be hosting a sustainability symposium in York on 21st September 2024, bringing together local leaders from across the public, private and third sector in York and North Yorkshire to grow the green economy. 

This event serves as a regional assembly where leaders from the public, private, and third sectors actively participate in practical discussions on how we can grow and strengthen the green economy in Yorkshire. Each roundtable in our Sustainability Symposiums involves leaders from anchor institutions, corporations, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), startups, and youth representatives and we will focus on 6 core topics in this discussion.

With our headline partners, York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority, we’re digging into some of the most important topics surrounding the growth of the green economy in York and North Yorkshire. Each part of our region has different challenges and different solutions to the problems we face from climate change, and as such, we’ll discuss the frameworks needed in each region with leaders paving the way,  to ensure that we have a just and swift transition to a green economy. 

Our Roundtables will focus on the following 6 topics: 

• Retrofitting York’s Historical Buildings 
• Renewable Energy in York and North Yorkshire
• Developing the York and North Yorkshire Transport System 
• Green Skills for the Future Workforce 
• Tech and The Role of AI in Building a Circular Economy
• Future Proofing Community Food 

Following these roundtable discussions, we’ll be creating insight reports which will be published on our website and shared with the local and combined authorities to help them to shape their internal policies and procedures as the green economy continues to develop in York and North Yorkshire.
